Because of their remote location, small insular territories rely on importations from the mainland and suffer from low supply and high costs of energy, fresh water and food.
By using the ocean as a resource, BARDOT Ocean’s integrated system can produce enough electricity and fresh water for a population up to 50,000. The combination of OTEC, SWAC and SWRO covers a wide range of applications, from energy and air-conditioning to agriculture and aquaculture. It is estimated that 100 nations and territories in tropical regions have the pre-requisites to benefit from OTEC, SWAC & SWRO technologies.
This system allows important cost savings and will help isolated communities to develop a sustainable economy based on self-sufficiency. It will also bring substantial increase in the quality of life of these isolated communities.
